Bring Lent home to every family in your congregation.

Lent is a season of slowing down, paying attention, and making space for God in the everyday. The Lent at the Table box is designed for churches who want to resource their families with something simple, meaningful, and ready to use — no preparation required.

Each box guides a household through the six weeks of Lent and Holy Week using hands-on practices woven into shared meals and ordinary moments at home. Week by week, families add something new to their table — a small, tangible reminder that faith is formed not only in worship, but in the places we gather, eat, and welcome one another.

There is no right or wrong way to use this box. Some weeks may linger. Others may be kept simple. Wherever each family is, these practices are offered as gentle invitations to notice, to share, and to remember that we are welcomed to Christ's table again and again.

The Journey, Week by Week

First Sunday of Lent — Set the Table Together Families begin by creating their place settings. They color the placemats, fill out the name cards, and display them at the table. A flatbread recipe card is included to bake and share throughout the season as a reminder of nourishment and togetherness.

Second Sunday of Lent — Small Things Matter A small vase is added to the table. Each family member is invited to find a small flower or sprig to place inside — a reminder that even small things are seen and cherished by God.

Third Sunday of Lent — Share What You Have Families find four mini bags of Swedish Fish. Two are for their household to enjoy, and two are meant to be given away — a simple, hands-on reflection on generosity and sharing from what we have.

Fourth Sunday of Lent — Welcome Others In An invitation card is included to help families extend their table to someone else — a friend, a neighbor, or someone who might need a place to belong.

Fifth Sunday of Lent — Making Space, Making Amends Families use the burlap strips and olive leaf ribbon to create napkin rings and decorate their place settings together — a symbol of tidying up, making amends, and preparing to welcome.

Holy Week — Remember the Table A Haroset recipe card and a wooden spoon invite families to remember the story of deliverance and the meal Jesus shared with his disciples. A gluten-free flatbread recipe is also included so every household can participate fully.
